Third Thursday Webinar

Topic: The Farmington Way: A New Mexico Public School District Success Story

Thursday, May 20, 11:00 A.M. to Noon

Nestled in the rural northwest corner in the Land of Enchantment a very special public school success story is rapidly attracting national interest. Home to 10,500 students, the Farmington, New Mexico school district serves a unique blend of Navajo, Hispanic, Caucasian and other demographic groups of children. In a continually unfolding story, The Farmington Way showcases how building Quality New Mexico systems leads to impressive gains in student achievement. In the process, participants will gain appreciation as to how responding to Voice of the Customer and Workforce Engagement can make a difference in a public school's success story.

Dr. Gene Schmidt has served as Superintendent for the Farmington Municipal Schools (FMS) in New Mexico since May 2015. He immediately connected with Quality New Mexico to begin a continuous improvement journey that set a pathway to become one of the highest performing school systems in the state. On its journey, FMS was presented with QNM “Roadrunner” Recognition, which is the second-highest standard of excellence awarded.
